Off the Main returns to NYC October 5 - 8, 2006

Mark your calendar! For four exciting days, October 5-8, 2006, New York’s landmark Puck Building located at Lafayette & Houston Streets in Soho will be the venue of Off the Main, the groundbreaking exposition celebrating the best in contemporary African, Caribbean and Latin American Art.
Launched in 2004 with 41 exhibitors representing over 200 artists from 20 countries, Off the Main attracted a multicultural audience of  over 5,000 people over 3 days - an impressive showing for any inaugural art fair.

 Opening Thursday, October 5, with a Preview Charity Reception, Off the Main provides curators, collectors and critics a first opportunity to view and collect some of the most exciting and innovative works of art being produced today. This body of work includes paintings, drawings, original prints, photography and sculpture from known and yet to be discovered artists

As a special feature, Off the Main presents a New Collectors’ Evening on Friday October 6 from 7-10pm.  This reception brings collectors together with curators and artists.  This is a unique opportunity aimed at increasing new collectors’ knowledge and appreciation of art from some of the most exciting cultures in the world.

The lecture series which will be held on Saturday October 7, from 12-3pm., features presentations by artists, scholars and curators and provide yet another opportunity for attendees to learn more about contemporary African, Caribbean & Latin American artists and movements.
